Weaving Tapestries The Arts Council hosted the first ever Weaving Tapestries workshop in the Muskoka area. Entitled “Cultivating Partnerships & Dreaming Cultural Spaces,” this workshop presented by Community Arts Ontario, the Arts Council of Muskoka and Huronia Foundation for the Arts addressed the need to learn about the intergenerational and cross-cultural impact of community arts and to discover what makes successful partnerships. By identifying and celebrating the diverse resources within the Muskoka and Midland region, Weaving Tapestries affirmed the enormous impact the arts have on community development, especially with respect to youth participation, promotion of traditional culture, and the explosion of contemporary culture. We held the workshop at the Wahta Cultural and Community Centre on June 13 from 12-6 p.m. Thank you to all who attended. Be sure to look for follow up workshops coming in the winter!
