August 21 – 28: Muskoka Autumn Studio Tour 30th
Anniversary Retrospective Show. Muskoka
Boat and Heritage Centre (Grace & Speed), 275 Steamship Bay Rd.,
Gravenhurst
To
commemorate its special anniversary, the Muskoka Autumn Studio Tour is holding
a Gala Exhibit of present and past members of the tour. An archival display of past brochures,
newspaper and magazine articles, and videos will be part of this retrospective
on the history of the tour.
The
celebration kicks off with an invitational evening on Thursday, August 21, to
be attended by many of the former members who have moved to other regions. Art
exhibits of members, past and present, will be showcased for the public from
Friday, August 22 to Thursday, August 28.

Hinterglas Castle – Walker’s
Point, between Gravenhurst & Bala
Author Susan Ross and artist
Bonnie Bews will be at Hinterglas Castle to autograph their new book. The
original artwork for this enchanting hardcover children’s book will also be on
display. Don’t miss your chance to own one of the original illustrations of Zelda
and Esmeralda. You may also contact them directly to have a signed copy set

September 8: Spinning Reels, a not-for-profit
organization bringing alternative movies to the Norwood 3 in Bracebridge, kicks off a new season with Young @ Heart.
A lighthearted documentary about the Young @ Heart Chorus (average age: 81),
who perform rock, punk and disco; a thoughtful rumination on life and death.
Tickets are $7 and are available at the door or in advance at Readers’ World or
by email spinningreelsbb@gmail.com. There will be an opening night reception at The Old Station in Bracebridge for
ticket holders, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30. Hors d’oeuvres will be served. Cash
bar.
- September 11: ArtShare, themed monthly gatherings for
the arts organized by the Arts Council of Muskoka. This one taking place
at the Inn at the Falls,
Bracebridge, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Theme: An exploration of our local
art heritage, with a presentation by artist/writer Wendy Oke on Huntsville
artist, clairvoyant and recluse, Alma Rumball. For more information,

- September 12: Joint Photography
Exhibit by Robyn King-Thomas, Don Clement and Ted Ratajczak opens
at the Muskoka Lakes Museum’s Catto Gallery. Exhibit runs to Thanksgiving
weekend inclusive. Admission to the museum is $2. Part of the Arts Council

- September 12-14: Painting in Muskoka
with Pat Fairhead. Weather permitting, this class will take place

Productions’ fall programming for adults and children kicks off.

- Sept 19-21: Knights: A musical martial arts fantasy for the whole family, by John Oliver Peel, co-founder of the National Martial Arts
Theatre Company. At the Gravenhurst Opera House, featuring
a cast from across Muskoka. Three young martial artists compete for a
place in a secret knighthood and embark on a mystical journey of intrigue,
romance and self-discovery. Knights includes 16 original songs in a tale
of adventure and beauty, punctuated by the heart-pounding beat of live

Quarterly Meet ‘N’ Greet,
an evening to socialize with the arts community and its supporters. Corn

- September 23-24: Anne & Gilbert:
Selected Songs Performed by the Original Cast, at the Algonquin Theatre in Huntsville. The Toronto Island’s
Playhouse Theatre is bringing the magic of Anne of Green Gables to
Muskoka, 44 shows and 44 sold out houses later. Part of the Huntsville

- Early October: The Muskoka
Writing Circle. A new
writer’s group is starting up at the Bracebridge Public Library. The
focus will be on positive critiquing, mini-workshops and discussion.
Meetings will be on the third Saturday of the month from 9:00 a.m. to
11:30 a.m. All writers 18 years of age and older are welcome. Contact
